Chavez had his best year yet in 2006- when he hit.306 in 353 at bats. Then- on October 19- 2006- during the sixth inning of Game Seven of the NLCS at Shea Stadium- Chavez made one of the most spectacular postseason defensive plays ever when he robbed Scott Rolen of a home run by snagging and pulling down a ball that Rolen had crushed and sent well over the fence.
