He was the first player in history to pitch both a no-hitter and also lead the league in saves. The bulk of Righetti's career was spent with New York- where he was the 1981 Rookie of the Year and helped the Yankees reach the World Series. After several years as a starter- he became the team's closer- and in 1986 set a then-league record of 46 saves.
